Young Carers Action Day 2026: New Resources Released to Support ‘Fair Futures for Young Carers’

We are pleased to highlight the launch of new national resources ahead of Young Carers Action Day 2026, taking place on Wednesday 11 March 2026. This annual awareness day, led by Carers Trust, shines a spotlight on the vital role of young carers and calls for stronger recognition, support, and opportunities to help them thrive.

This year’s theme, “Fair Futures for Young Carers,” focuses on ensuring that children and young people with caring responsibilities have equal chances to learn, grow and achieve their full potential. The campaign emphasises the need for improved support pathways in education, wellbeing, and personal development

Free Webinar Announced: Strengthening Cybersecurity in Schools – 26 February 2026

The Safeguarding in Education team is pleased to share details of an upcoming free cybersecurity webinar designed specifically for education professionals. Hosted by SWGfL in partnership with Secure Schools, the session will take place on Thursday 26 February 2026, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Following strong engagement in their 2025 session on the Cybersecurity Breaches Survey, SWGfL is offering this practical follow‑up webinar to help schools build robust cyber resilience and strengthen safeguarding practices through improved digital security.

Children’s Mental Health Week 2026: Supporting Belonging Through the Theme ‘This Is My Place’

The Safeguarding in Education team is pleased to highlight Children’s Mental Health Week 2026, taking place from 9–15 February 2026. Organised annually by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, the week aims to raise awareness of children and young people’s mental health and empower schools, families and communities to take action.
This year’s theme, “This Is My Place,” focuses on the importance of belonging—helping children and young people feel valued, connected, and supported in the environments that shape their daily lives. A sense of belonging has been shown to play a vital role in wellbeing, influencing mental and physical health, relationships and educational attainment.
