Spotlight on Online Safety: Free Cybersecurity Webinar & Latest Helpline Insights
The Safeguarding in Education team is pleased to share the latest updates from SWGfL’s Safe, Secure, Online campaign, with important developments to support schools in strengthening digital safeguarding.
SWGfL's excited to be hosting a free webinar in partnership with Secure Schools on Wednesday, 11th June, focusing on cybersecurity in the education sector. This session will explore key risks facing schools today and practical steps to enhance resilience in an increasingly digital learning environment.
This is a valuable opportunity for school leaders, safeguarding leads, and IT professionals to hear from cybersecurity experts and gain up-to-date insights on protecting systems, data, and young people online.
SWGfL’s helplines also provided crucial data this month:
The Professionals Online Safety Helpline (POSH) emphasised the need for stronger collaboration with industry partners, particularly when tackling complex digital safeguarding concerns.
Report Harmful Content recorded a 20.5% increase in reports, underlining the growing prevalence of online harms impacting children and young people.
These insights reinforce the need for ongoing awareness, training, and dialogue across the education sector to ensure we can respond effectively to evolving online threats.
