The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) has launched a powerful new video titled “Stand With Us”, created with direct input from children who have experienced bullying. This short film gives voice to young people’s lived experiences and highlights what they want adults — especially those in education — to know and do in response.
Developed as part of ABA’s ongoing commitment to listening to children, “Stand With Us” is more than just a campaign piece — it’s a heartfelt message from children asking the adults around them to believe them, listen carefully, and take action when they speak up about bullying.
“Don’t say ‘it’s just banter’ — it’s not banter to us.”
“Take bullying seriously the first time we tell you.”
“Help us feel safe again.”
The video is based on in-depth consultation with children aged 8–14 and supported by data from ABA’s recent survey, which found:
Over 1 in 3 children feel adults don’t take bullying seriously enough.
Many children feel unheard or dismissed when they report being bullied.
The message from children is clear — adults need to act early and decisively. As educators and safeguarding professionals, it's vital that we:
Create safe spaces for pupils to speak openly.
Challenge dismissive attitudes toward bullying, including harmful narratives like "kids will be kids."
Provide visible, consistent responses to all reports of bullying.
"Bullying can have a serious and lasting impact on a child's mental health and educational experience. This video is a reminder to listen, believe, and take action.” – Anti-Bullying Alliance
You can view the “Stand With Us” video and access supporting resources on the Anti-Bullying Alliance website.
We encourage all school staff, especially Designated Safeguarding Leads, pastoral teams, and senior leaders, to watch the video and share it with colleagues. Let’s make sure every child knows they are seen, heard, and protected.
